In 1966, Baron Edmond de Rothschild presented to The Library of The Jewish Theological Seminary a massive, fifteenth-century illuminated Hebrew manuscript in an almost perfect state of preservation. This extraordinarily beautiful mahzor (prayer book used on the High Holidays) written in Florence in 1490 by the scribe Abraham Judah of Camerino, and illustrated by at least three different art workshops, includes the prayers and piyyutim (Hebrew liturgical poems) for the entire Jewish year.
